Description

Join SGNA for the upcoming webinar Emerging Technology: Latest anti-reflux endoscopic procedures and surgeries

Review the description below to see if this webinar is right for you:

Gastroesophageal reflux disease (GERD) is one of the most common clinical disorders observed in developed countries. In the US, nearly 20% of the adult population experiences typical GERD symptoms such as heartburn or regurgitation at least once a week. Despite the traditional medical treatment 30-40% does not respond to standard dose of PPIs and 50-70% of patients relapse with symptoms after cessation of treatment. Medical therapy also appears to have limited effectiveness in 30-40% of GERD patients with atypical laryngopharyngeal reflux symptoms. Anti-reflux surgeries are reserved for these types of patients and proven to be preventing both acid and non-acid reflux. The FDA approved, Transoral Incisionless Fundoplication (TIF) and Medigus endoscopic stapler device are the currently available endoscopic procedures. Some of the traditional surgical fundoplication, and the latest Laproscopic Linx procedure will be discussed in detail. After attending this webinar, all levels of gastroenterology nurses will gain knowledge on current emerging technology in the endoscopic and surgical treatment approach to GERD.
